They Talk About Us

Following the registration of Domaine La Lauzeta in the 2023 Hachette Wine Guide competition, we had the immense honor of having been selected within the Saint-Chinian appellation. The Hachette Wine Guide awarded us a star for our 2020 Corteza. This star means that the guide judged our wine to be very successful.

Here’s what the Hachette Wine Guide commission thought of our 2020 Corteza:

“Behind an intense dress, a deep, greedy nose, centered on fresh black fruit. Velvety, slippery, carried by tannins just as caressing, the mouth returns without filter this fresh and crisp fruit. We open it in its young years.”

JEB DUNNUCK OF THE WINE ADVOCATE ON LA LAUZETA’S 2015 VINTAGE
“Maybe the greatest St Chinian I’ve tasted” (92-94+) / 100 @Wine_Advocate @jebdunnuck The top wine of the estate, and the maybe the greatest St Chinian I’ve tasted (albeit from barrel), the 2015 St Chinian 1er Vin is a blend of Syrah and Grenache, from schist soils, that was completely destemmed, and aged in a mix of demi-muids and barrels. Its inky purple color is followed by a deep, layered red that offers sensational notes of black raspberries, black cherries, classy oak and spice. Possessing terrific purity, good acidity and high quality tannin, it’s still incredibly young, and therefore riskier to gauge, yet it’s no doubt an outstanding wine and bodes well for the 2015 vintage! A new estate for me, I was able to taste these wines with their consultant Claude Gros. While incredibly young (which makes any judgements difficult), the raw material here is stunning, and these are some wines I can’t wait to try again from bottle.

JANCIS ROBINSON ON JAUZIMEN ROSÉ 2015
Only just pink – this is so pale I had to examine in carefully in several different lights to establish that it is not a deep-coloured white. First-ever wine made by Englishman Tom Hills. Claude Gros consults and wines are made by the well-travelled Amélie Czerwenka of the northern Rhône. 45% Cinsault, 40% Grenache,15% Syrah on schist in the far north of the appellation. In certified organic conversion. Their biggest production at 9,500 bottles. Free sulphur just 13mg/l! Pure as a mountain stream. Lovely smooth fruit and a certain light smokiness (hints of Provence) but with the muscular tang of St-Chinian schist. Admirably long. Quite a find !
